The aim of the multi-year project to restore media art installations is to use individual case studies to test groundbreaking restoration methods which secure the long-term preservation of this art form which is based on techniques and technology. imai has dedicated initial case studies to Videoenvironment Il Nuotatore (va troppo spesso ad Heidelberg) (1984) of the Italian group of artists Studio Azzurro, the Mixed-Media-Installation In Situ (1986) of the American media art artist Gary Hill and the interactive installation Exchange Fields (2000) of the American artist Bill Seaman.
